Kinship

2022
The Co-exhibition of Praejeen Kunawong & Yun-Jung Hsieh

Kinship is a co-exhibition on natural-dyed textiles created by Praejeen and Yun-Jung, two textile designers with backgrounds in fashion.
The name “Kinship” represents the bond between nature and humans—a concept interpreted uniquely and separately by the two designers as they explore ways to bring natural dye to sophisticated production.

This exhibition took place at Alkovi Gallery, a unique displaying space located at Kallio, Helsinki.
It was a one-month exhibition (Sep. 5th ~ Oct. 4th), in which viewers can only look from the distance, just like looking at a display window.

We managed the planning and promotion of our exhibition together with the help of installation from Miina Hujala & Arttu Merimaa.
The final visual of the setting is different from what we have sketched; It gained more fluidity and freedom after we adjusted the placement of pieces according to the space.

Exhibition imaginary setting:

For promotion, we created a Facebook event and a series of Instagram posts, sending out emails,
and also went traditional ways, posting our posters around the Helsinki area, including libraries, cafes, and universities.
Besides, Alkovi also helped us promote through their social media and send out newsletters.

We organized everything, from the matching profile pictures and banners to our event page during the exhibition period.
For each post on our social media account, we arranged a schedule and created the content, including text and pictures for them.

During the exhibition period, we organized “Open Doors” on two specific days and let people come in to learn more about the exhibition.
We designed our exhibition souvenirs by corporating the elements from our individual work and planning the playlist and short video for the Open Doors.
It was very lucky that we had sunny weather for both days, and everything turned out to be great.
